Changelog

Aug 6, 2026

New Apple Intelligence page

  • A dedicated Apple Intelligence tab: which devices qualify (the earliest model in each line), the base (8GB RAM) vs advanced (12GB) hardware tiers, and every Apple Intelligence and Siri AI feature with the OS release that introduced it.
  • Siri AI now notes its hardware requirement—Apple Intelligence (A17 Pro/M1 or later, 8GB)—wherever it appears, and added Adaptive Power and a Battery & Power category.
  • Added the 12 GB “advanced” Apple Intelligence tier as a tracked feature—the devices that meet it (iPhone Air/17 Pro/Pro Max, M5 iPad Pro, M4/M5 Macs) plus a new Advanced Dictation feature—so expressive Siri voices and advanced dictation now show their memory requirement.

OS 27 second public beta: new features tracked

  • Adjustable Liquid Glass—a Settings slider that sets the interface anywhere from clear to fully tinted—added to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.
  • Siri Voice Personalization (pace and expressivity sliders) on iOS 27, limited to iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max, American voices first.
  • The Home app can now update an Apple TV 4K remotely, the way it already does for HomePod (iOS 27 and iPadOS 27).

Apple TV and HomePod, plus Thread and Matter

  • Added the Apple TV line (Apple TV HD through Apple TV 4K 3rd generation) and HomePod (original, mini, and 2nd generation).
  • New smart-home connectivity: Thread (HomePod mini, HomePod 2nd gen, and Apple TV 4K 2nd/3rd gen) and Matter (every Apple TV and HomePod home hub—iPhone, iPad, and Mac serve as Matter controllers).
  • Filled in the early standard iPads—the iPad 2 and the 3rd and 4th generations—so the line runs unbroken from 2010.
  • Face ID gained two capability features: “Face ID with a Mask” (iPhone 12 and later) and “Landscape Face ID” (every Face ID iPad and iPhone 13 and later).

Cleaner links, shareable picks, and friendlier errors

  • URLs lost their “.php” endings—pages are now /os, /picker, /whichos, and so on. Old links redirect automatically, so anything you’ve bookmarked keeps working.
  • The Picker Matrix now writes your selection into the address bar, so a set of features can be bookmarked or sent to a colleague—there’s a “Copy link” button too.
  • Mistyped or missing pages now show a proper Fruit Specs page with a search box, instead of a bare server error.
  • Which OS? labels Intel Macs (e.g. “MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019, Intel)”), making it clear at a glance why they stop at macOS 26.

Wireless charging, in detail

  • Filled a gap in the Qi data: the iPhone XS/XR and iPhone 11 series now correctly list Qi wireless charging.
  • Split Qi2 into its two tiers to match the standard: “Qi2 Wireless Charging (15W)” for the iPhone 15 line and 17e, and “Qi2.2 Wireless Charging (25W)” for the iPhone 16 and 17 lines.

New “Which OS?” tool

  • Pick a platform and the OS versions you’re comparing and get the devices grouped by which they run—“run both,” “run one only,” “run neither”—with each product line collapsed to “…and later.” Copies out as Markdown or rich text.

HDR display tracking

  • Added an “HDR Display” feature flagging the devices with a true HDR panel—OLED iPhones, XDR Macs and iPad Pros, Apple Vision Pro, and the Studio Display XDR.

Security, data fixes, and link polish

  • Admin sign-in moved from the browser password box to a proper login page.
  • Added the original Mac Studio (M1 Max/M1 Ultra, 2022) that was missing; corrected the iPhone 16e’s wireless charging (Qi only; no MagSafe/Qi2) and filed MagSafe under Charging.
  • Technical specs (USB, Thunderbolt, Wi-Fi, chips, and the like) now link out to Wikipedia, and outbound links show a small Apple- or Wikipedia-destination icon.

The Picker Matrix went interactive

  • Results update live as you tick features, and options that can’t narrow the set any further are grayed out.

Relaunched as Fruit Specs, with OS compatibility

  • New home at fruitspecs.com (old links redirect over automatically).
  • Every device now shows the range of OS versions it runs, from the version it shipped with through its last (or current) supported release.
  • Each OS release page lists the oldest compatible models per product line and the newest model that just missed the cut.
  • The feature picker left beta and was added as Picker Matrix.
